I just signed up with your site to sell my software. When do I get the money from my sales?
Our accounting department issues checks at the beginning of each month for all balances over $50 USD. If you would like to request a check at any time, simply send us an email and we will mail your check within two business days. When a check is issued to you, it will be annotated in your 'Account History' when you log on to your account on our site. The account history will also provide you the date of issue, the check number, and the check amount. The change will also be reflected in your balance.
I sell my software on your site. How do I know when a sale occurred?
If you log into your account and click on the 'Update your Account' link, you will see a form field for entering a 'Notification Email address'. Enter your email address here and select the appropriate radio box above the field to turn notifications on. This will send you a short email whenever you sell a component on our site. Hint: some of our developers put their cell phone email addresses in this field to be notified on their pagers or PDA's.
I just signed up with your site to sell my software. How do I make money?
We are in the distribution business so we only make money when you sell your software. We take a default commission of 25% of your stated Component price, and add a 6% fee to the retail price to cover additional account handling. When you upload a Component for sale, you are asked how much you wish to sell the Component for. We then tell you what the final price will be. You have the option to change your price at anytime. An example follows: If you want to sell your Component for 100.00, the final selling price would be $106.00. When the Component is sold, you will make $75.00. The remainder is our commission along with a surcharge to take care of handling both charge-backs and fraudulent orders. To increase your profits, we offer a Sole Distribution Agreement. Read below for more information.
I am a seller on the site. What is a Sole Distribution Agreement?
A Sole Distribution Agreement (SDA) is an agreement between us and you, the developer. It allows you to make more money per transaction by lowering our commission in exchange for the right to be the sole online distribution source for your software. We would be the only online site at which you can sell your software. You would not be able to sell your product on any other site, including your own. In exchange for this right, we lower our commission rate. Ergo, you receive more profit per transaction. The top 15 sellers at our site have an SDA, and they have been very happy and very successful with this agreement. This arrangement saves you the time, money, and effort involved with developing your own e-commerce site and adds to the cooperative marketing advantages of working with CFXtras. We also work closely with you to integrate your site seamlessly with CFXtras to provide the end user with a smooth shopping and purchasing experience. If you are interested in advancing your relationship with us, please contact us for more information. For your research needs, we are also happy to provide contact information so you can speak with other customers about the SDA.
I bought software at CFXtras, and didn't get my download instructions for several hours.
Most orders are approved in less than 15 minutes. If you do not receive your download instructions within this time, the following may have occurred: Most often, your credit card caused a problem which required further review before approval. Sometimes, orders are delayed because insufficient information was supplied during the order process. Other times, the listed email address is incorrect and needs to be fixed. If you experience a delayed order, simply send an email to check its status. Remember that we are in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Though we try our best to operate 24 hours a day, you may notice a delay if you send us an email at 4:30am EST (We are also developers, so we stay up late too; send us an email anyway...).
Is CFXtras related to Macromedia Corporation?
CFXtras has no legal or business relationship with Macromedia Corporation. CFXtras does not resell any Macromedia products. CFXtras components and software are intended to be used with and to complement Macromedia products.
How long has CFXtras been around and how can I trust you? I am thinking about selling my Components on your site, but I don't want to get burned.
We get this question often. Our stance is this: Trust is built through experience. Use us for a while. You will see how we work and we know you will be pleased. Over time, trust will no longer be an issue and you will begin recommending us to your associates. We have been in business since January 2000. With top developers like Ben Forta, Andrei Oprea, Peter Bassey, and Al Nickles, you will see that our reputation speaks for itself. We have over 250 global developers selling their software on our site and we have never had a breach of trust.
Where is your license agreement?
There are three pages to the license agreement. Be sure to read them all. They are easy to read and written primarily in plain English, not legalese. Visit the pages at: http://www.CFXtras.com/LegalUserAgreement.cfx. At the bottom of this page are links to the other two pages. Visit the appropriate pages for buyers or sellers.
I purchased a Component on your site but lost my download. Can I get another copy?
Of course; this happens all the time. Buyers come back to us because a developer’s computer crashed or the server went ‘non compus mentus’. Just email us with your receipt of download instructions and we will enable your download for another 4 days. If you don't have any of the original receipts, email us a phone number and we will have one of our ‘social engineers’ call you to verify your identity. After confirmation, we will enable your download for an additional 4 days.
I bought a Component on your site. Why don't you just email it to me in an attachment?
We used to think that was a good idea too. However, large buyers have mail servers that don’t typically permit the receipt of a one-megabyte .EXE file in emails. Can you say 'Melissa Virus'?
Is the software at CFXtras written by CFXtras or other people?
Almost all of the software at CFXtras is written by a developer or company that does NOT work for CFXtras. Think of us as an Ebay for ColdFusion developers.
I am thinking about selling my software at your site. Is it possible to attach a software license that must be accepted before download?
There are several solutions to this problem. One, include a link to the license agreement on your own site and supply a link to it in the details about your component when you upload it. (There is a field that asks for a URL specifically for this reason.) Two, add a license agreement to the download package as a text file or word doc. Three, include the license details in your product description on the component detail information page.
