How did CFXtras come about?

Fellow Developer,

As a ColdFusion developer, I know how difficult it is to safely and securely distribute commercial releases of my software to overseas customers. In 1999, a Taiwanese customer wanted to purchase a copy of my company’s software, “Podium.” We did not have an e-commerce site set up to sell single pieces of software. This forced us to rely on that antiquated stand-by, snail mail, to send “Podium” only after receiving payment by mail.

Naturally, this proved time-consuming and required an element of blind trust from both parties. Understandably, our Taiwanese customer was reluctant to send a foreign-currency check overseas, and we were also wary of handling foreign currency here (to say nothing of exchange-rate fluctuations!). Ultimately, those hurdles blocked the sale, but led to a wonderful new concept: CFXtras.com, the site where you the developer, can safely and quickly sell your software and you the purchaser can just as easily buy. I like to think if it an “ebay for programmers”.

The Solution is CFXtras.com. Welcome!
